| Bernadette O'Reilly | July, 2004 |
"Fiercely talented, committed, and effective," is how most people describe industry veteran Bernadette O'Reilly. A Brooklyn-native, she began her career in the artist relations division at Spotlite Entertainment, where she worked with comics Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld and Dennis Miller. Extremely passionate for music, O'Reilly soon turned her sites to the music industry and landed a job at Peer Music. Bernadette worked her way up from Creative Assistant to Creative Director, playing a pivotal role in creating successful careers. She also secured the first U.S. label deal for UK producers 3 Man Island and has had Peer songs placed with such artists as James Ingram, Tina Turner, and Menudo. Bernadette has channeled her skills in many different areas. As an Instructor at the Songwriters Hall of Fame O'Reilly has been responsible for cultivating many aspiring songwriters. As Music Supervisor for the independent films, "Crooked Lines" and the Upright Citizen's Brigade feature, "Wild Girls Gone" she has shown her ability for creative accuracy. She also was music consultant for the new television program "Get Fit To Go". In the fall of 1994, O'Reilly formed Nelson-O'Reilly Productions with composer, producer, songwriter, Eve Nelson. The self-contained production company primarily focuses on the cultivation of artist development where O'Reilly discovered artist Billy Crawford. Nelson-O'Reilly co-wrote his debut self titled album and acquired a record deal from Richard Branson's V2 Records. Most recently, Billy Crawford's second album, Ride, in which O'Reilly wrote several songs, went Platinum in France and double platinum is looking inevitable in the near future. The talented team of Nelson-O'Reilly are working with Willa Ford (Lava Records), OSX (S-Curve) on their debut album, The Beu Sisters, and Slingshot signing, Italee. Most recently, Eve Nelson Produced, and Arranged Chaka Khan's upcoming standards album with the London Symphony Orchestra, Bernadette was project supervisor. While running Nelson-O'Reilly productions, Bernadette has also Executive Produced the Sarah Brooks (featuring Joe Beck) album, "What is my Heart for," The Demolition String Band's "Pulling Up Atlantis," Sandra Bernhard's Broadway debut, "I'm Still Here Damn it" and alt/pop artist Poem 27's new CD, "Reading a Masterpiece," she has also co-written with newly signed artist Ben Jelen, (Maverick) for his album "Give It All Away." A success in spotting and developing new talent, O'Reilly is now spotlighting her own songwriting skills, she has rejoined Peer Music again but now as a staff writer, collaborating with a multitude of artists and songwriters. She is currently represented by 7th Street Entertainment, an independent company, representing songwriters, artists, and producers in New York City. | |
